Business Interruption

We understand that every Marina is different! You deserve an insurance program that is tailored to your operations. Using our Risk Map Analysis ™ approach, we help you navigate the rough waters of the insurance industry and customize packages specifically for your business.

As a marina owner, you understand the risks involved in your industry and the importance of having adequate insurance coverage. A comprehensive Marina Insurance program should include General Liability, Auto Liability, Marina Operators’ Legal Liability, Protection & Indemnity, Workers Compensation WITH USL&H, and a Bumbershoot (Umbrella) policy.

Marine Operators Legal Liability (MOLL) & Bumbershoot

Did you know that you ARE responsible for the value of all the vessels that are stored in your facilities? Your customers are the lifeline for your business and with the current volatility of boat replacement costs, it can be extremely challenging to place a $$$ amount on the vessels in your care, custody, and control. Between legal fees, cost of deposition, and arbitration, it only takes one catastrophic loss to sink your business if your MOLL x Bumbershoot limits are too low.

CORE VALUES

  • Inclement weather events
  • Malfunction or failure of equipment used in the business
  • Transportation damage to watercraft
  • Fuel Sales
  • Loss of data due to unauthorized access via Cyber hacks
  • Slips and falls
  • Retail Sales
  • Broker Exposure
  • Title Errors

Other types of Marina Insurance Coverages to Consider

Errors & Omissions (E&O) Coverages

Any errors or items left out in sales paperwork carries significant financial risk.  Title E&O is a special form of insurance that provides payments to resolve titling issues.  There is also Engine Hours E&O coverage which is for legal claims that come up related to problems with engines.

Commercial Auto Insurance

Covers transportation equipment used to transport vessels or conduct business.

Workers’ Compensation Insurance

To cover any incidents that can happen to employees during their work shift.

United States Longshore & Harbor (USL&H) Act

It is required by the Federal Government that certain businesses, including dock builders, ship repairers, and marine contractors provide compensation to employees for injuries sustained or illnesses contracted while performing their duties on or near navigable waters of the U.S., including any adjoining pier, wharf, dry dock, terminal, building-way, or marine railway. Workers engaged in loading, unloading, repairing, or building a vessel are eligible for coverage under the USL&H. Benefits provided by USL&H are based on wage loss and the worker’s post-injury earning capacity. If you don’t have USL&H coverage in place when a claim occurs, you will be subject to a fine of up to $10,000, imprisonment of up to one year, or both under the Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.

Business Interruption Coverage

When a physical loss to a covered property occurs, it can lead to costly downtime. Business interruption coverage helps marine businesses withstand a covered loss so it can resume “business as normal.”

Uninsured and Underinsured Watercraft

Provides coverage for damages an insured person is entitled to receive due to a watercraft accident caused by an uninsured/underinsured vessel.
